God’s Purpose for NCCKL

Introduction

When a building is planned, everything begins with dimensional space. Before any structure can rise, the architect must first determine the width, the depth, and the height. These dimensions define how far the building can stretch, how deep it can go, and how high it can rise. Without clearly establishing these dimensions, no structure can be properly built.

In the same way, God has a clear design for His church. From Ephesians 4:13, we see that God’s purpose for NCCkl is revealed through three spiritual dimensions. The width speaks of unity, the depth speaks of maturity, and the height speaks of Christlikeness. God is building His people intentionally, according to this divine design, so that the church may grow and stand firmly for His glory.

Unity

The first dimension God establishes is width, which is unity. Paul says, “until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God.” This unity determines how far the church can grow horizontally—how broadly God can stretch the body of Christ together as one.

The unity Paul speaks of is not based on opinions, personalities, or outward differences. It is unity in the faith—a definite, non-negotiable belief. This faith is the Gospel of the water and the Spirit. Jesus Christ came by water, blood, and the Spirit. Through His baptism, all our sins were transferred onto Him; through His death on the cross, those sins were judged; and through His resurrection, we received new life. This is the faith that saves and unites us. This faith is not something we negotiate or adjust. It is the foundation that binds us together as one family in Christ—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:5-6). Another aspect of unity is the unity in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. This knowledge is not merely intellectual. It is a growing, experiential knowledge of Christ who lives in us through the Holy Spirit. As we grow together in this knowledge, we become more firmly united and strengthened in the truth. God’s desire is that the whole church grows together in both the faith and the knowledge of His Son.

Maturity

The second dimension is depth, which speaks of maturity. Paul says that God’s purpose is for us to grow “to a mature man.” Depth determines how far and how strong a structure can go. Although we are fully born again through the Gospel of the water and the Spirit, spiritual growth is still necessary.

Maturity is a process. It involves learning to restrain the tongue, exercising self-control, and becoming less dependent on self and more dependent on Christ. A mature believer knows when to speak, how to speak, and when to remain silent. Maturity also means discernment. Immature believers easily accept everything they hear, but mature believers test teachings against Scripture. As believers grow in depth, they become stable, reliable, and able to contribute positively to the life of the church. God desires NCCkl to grow deep so that the church will remain strong and effective to serve His Righteousness.

Christlikeness

The third dimension is height, which speaks of Christlikeness. Paul describes this as growing “to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ,” revealing how high God intends His people to rise. The word measure points to Christ as our plumb line. Jesus is the only perfect Man, and all humanity born from Adam carries a fallen nature. Therefore, every area of our lives—our decisions, attitudes, and responses—is measured against Him. In trials and pressure, the question is not what feels right, but what Christ would do. This guards us from self-righteousness and reminds us that our perfection is found only in Him. Stature speaks of spiritual standing and reputation. Scripture tells us that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and men.

As believers grow in Christ, their lives begin to reflect stability, faithfulness, and consistency. This stature is formed over time through faithful walking with Christ, enduring trials, and sincere service. Finally, Paul speaks of the fullness of Christ. Christ is not merely the giver of blessings—He is the fullness Himself. In Him, every need is met, and every emptiness is filled. As we grow upward into Christ through the Gospel of the water and the Spirit, we come to understand that He alone is enough, and His life is increasingly revealed through us as His body.

Conclusion

God’s purpose for NCCkl is clear. He is building His church according to His divine design—wide in unity, deep in maturity, and high in Christlikeness. This work is grounded in the Gospel of the water and the Spirit, the faith that saves us and brings us into true oneness in Christ. As we grow together in these three dimensions, God continues His work in us, shaping us to reflect His Son and to function as a strong, united body for His glory.
