Warning for Carnal Believers
Through the gospel of the water and the Spirit, by believing in Jesus’ baptism, death, and resurrection, we have already been set free from sin. Our sinful nature has been judged and condemned in His body. Because of this, we are heaven-bound, not because of our efforts, but because of our faith in what He has done. Yet, even with this truth, the flesh still remains present, and the pull of sensuality is still real. That is why the Word of God calls us not just to believe, but to walk in the Spirit.
Power at Work
A key element of spiritual maturity is understanding the power that operates within the believer. Christ has already completed the work of salvation through His baptism, death, and resurrection. Through the Gospel of the water and the Spirit, everything needed for salvation is finished. However, many believers live as though there is a power failure. Like a sudden blackout, everything becomes still and dark. In the same way, though God has given us power, many walk around as though that power is not there, living passive and mediocre lives, without purpose or direction.
Truth Matters – Resurrection as a Lifestyle
What sets the Christian faith apart is not only the promise of life after death, but the reality of new life now. Other belief systems may speak of what happens after death, but the Gospel of water and the Spirit declares that believers can begin living the resurrection life even while still in this body. Christ lives in His people today. This means the power of the resurrection is not limited to a future event—it is a present experience, available every moment to those who are truly born again. Today, I want to lead you through three key truths from Scripture that show us how to live this resurrection life.
Purity Matters
By faith in the Gospel of water and the Spirit, living a life of purity is not impossible; rather, it is the natural outcome of a life transformed by right faith and sound doctrine. Purity is also the result of a life lived in accountability. It matters because it reflects the authenticity of our faith, and when we live with the awareness that God sees us and that our conduct affects those around us, we are compelled to turn away from sin and walk in a way that honors Him. In today’s message, we will explore three key defenses to guard and maintain purity in our lives: fleeing from impurity, pursuing God’s purity, and walking in godly fellowship.
