Beware of the Impurities of Faith
There is such a thing as impure faith. It is not the absence of belief in God, but faith in which human thoughts, fleshly understanding, and our own ideas have been mixed with divine truth. When we begin to interpret God according to our own philosophical thinking or understanding of Scripture, we can add our own ideas to what God has already accomplished and place confidence in our own efforts. These impurities are serious because they can hinder a person from being saved, weaken the faith of those who are already saved, and prevent believers from becoming effective witnesses. The Gospel of Water and Spirit brings us back to the foundation of true faith—that the issue of sin has been completely resolved through Jesus’ baptism, death, and resurrection.
Submission is God-Pleasing Sacrifice
Submission is one of the most essential yet most misunderstood truths in Christian life. Many people struggle with this word because the flesh naturally resists authority, correction, and surrender. From the very beginning in the Garden of Eden, mankind’s downfall began with a refusal to submit to God’s Word. Satan deceived Eve into rejecting God’s instruction, and through disobedience, humanity inherited a sinful and rebellious nature that continues to oppose God even today.
A Diagnosis of Sensuality
As we conclude the monthly focus on sensuality, it is important to examine our hearts honestly before God. Sensuality is not only about outward sinful behaviour. A person can appear very active in church, look religious outwardly, and yet still walk in the flesh. This is why we need spiritual discernment. The real issue is not merely what we do externally, but whether we are living by the Spirit of God or by our own strength and human effort.
Scandal of Grace
Every person longs for justice. Deep within us, we believe that people should receive what they deserve. Yet the Gospel reveals something shocking. Though we were guilty before God and deserving of judgment, Jesus Christ took our place. The punishment that belonged to us was laid upon Him. Through His baptism, where He took upon Himself the sins of the world, and through His death and resurrection, He fulfilled the righteousness of God completely. Grace does not ignore sin or lower God’s standards. Grace upholds righteousness because Jesus paid the full price for sin once and for all.
